Filipino actress Isabel Granada was on a business trip with her husband to Qatar, while during a ‘meet and greet’ event with her fans in Doha, she suddenly collapsed and was taken to hospital.
An announcement issued by Granada’s husband, Arnel Cowley on October 24th said the actress “suffered brain haemorrhage, which demonstrates aneurysm which thus affected her heart”.
She died at the age of 41 years on Saturday at the Hamad General Hospital in Doha.
An official statement posted by Cowley on social networking site stated: “It is with huge sadness that my wife Isabel Granada has passed away calmly here in Doha, Qatar. She has been a fantastic wife, mother and daughter. She always did her best in all that she did, regardless of whether it be infront of a camera or sports. I would also want to take this time to thank the Filipino people in Doha for providing their full support all through this troublesome time for myself and the family.”
A large number of Filipino expatriates in Doha communicated their sympathy for Granada’s husband and her family, posting messages of love and sympathies and saying she would be missed.
Granada landed in Qatar a month ago to address the Philippine Trade and Tourism Conference – Qatar, which was organized by the Association of Filipino Real Estate Executives in Qatar (Afreeq) in cooperation with LiQha Trading and Creative Works.
