A young couple who were last seen going out to celebrate Halloween have been found dead.
Musicians Charlie Eccleston and his girlfriend Zaiga Gravenieks were last seen leaving a flat Charlie shared with friends in Borehamwood, last Tuesday evening.
Charlie, 19, and his 20-year-old girlfriend Zaiga, known as Ziggi, were reported missing two days later.
Volunteer and police search and rescue teams were scrambled after desperate pleas by friends and family.
The couple’s bodies were found in woodland, on the outskirts of Shenley, on Sunday.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police said the families of Zaiga, a musician studying at Bedford College, and band member Charlie, are being supported by specially trained officers.
“Charlie Eccleston and Zaiga Gravenieks, who were reported missing on Thursday, November 2, were sadly found deceased earlier today,” he said.
“They wish to extend their thanks to everyone that searched for Charlie and Zaiga and shared appeals for information on social media.
“The families now ask that they have the privacy to mourn the loss of Charlie and Zaiga.”
Charlie’s mum Jo Eccleston, of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, urged people to look for the young couple, just days ago.
“The last phone signal was Ziggi’s (Zaiga) phone dying at 11am on Thursday in the London Colney/A414 area near Aylets,” she wrote.
“We would all be grateful if you could keep your wonderful support and help in keeping the search alive and in everyone’s minds.
“We would ask that you all keep on posting and reposting to EVERYONE AND ANYONE, even if it doesn’t seem relevant.
“Could you also please just remember that people like Kesari Gorin and Yaminah Nightshade (Chazz’s best friends) need your help and support too.
“This is really hitting them hard and I love them both. Again, a massive THANK YOU to everyone and keep searching xxxxxxx”
Zaiga’s sister Mara said: “They were last seen together leaving Chazz’s property in Borehamwood, Herts, (by flatmates) to go out on Tuesday 31st October 2017 to celebrate Halloween.
“They have not been seen since or had any contact with anyone that we know of. If anyone had any contact with them or knows any information please get in touch.”
Zaiga, who had several facial piercings and dyed black hair, described herself on her Facebook page as “A metal b****. Hard Rock, Xtreme Metal..aberrant to the depths.”
Charlie, also known as Chazz Fenrir, was a member of a band called Dessert Smoker which released an album at the end of September.
